Painting #14 of my Painting a Day project. Growing up in Connecticut, these fanciful birds were frequent visitors to our backyard bird feeder. The males especially seemed pretty sure that all the other birds should get out of their way when they arrived to dine on sunflower seeds. Hence the title, "Cardinal Rules." Living in Colorado, I don't get to see these red beauties very often - have to travel east to Iowa for that!
