Mother nature is going through a cycle of change. As her caretakers, we are experiencing the effects of that change. The source of war, sickness, pollution, famine and poverty is due to a fundamental imbalance in the spirit of humanity. Mother nature, our mirror, is inviting us to step inside the circle of awareness and experience the ceremonial dance of reunion. She sends messengers to help us find our way back to balance. These messengers manifest in our lives as totem animals. All we need to do is open our eyes, hearts and minds to the messages.
This is a series of horse paintings I am currently working on, as I explore the symbolism and myth of the horse found in cultures throughout the world. In these works, I strive to let the equine image act as a metaphor for reconnecting to the pulse of the natural world. To shrug off the stress, the fear, the ambivalence and the apathy of the modern world. Each painting is a journey, as I explore thoughts and feelings and let my horse-muse lead me to new discovery.
