The Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department was founded back in 1975. Today we've grown into one of the best equipped, best trained volunteer fire departments in the state, responding to fires, accidents and emergencies in the 100 square mile mountain area west of Fort Collins / LaPorte, Colorado.
Unlike most volunteer fire departments, we receive no mandated public funding. Everything from gas for the fire trucks and medical supplies for first responders to state-of-the-art fire fighting equipment comes from funds raised by the community.
The Richard Schmid Fine Art Auction and Rist Canyon Mountain Festival is the only fundraiser we hold all year. Over the past 12 years, the single-day auction/festival has raised over $500,000 to upgrade and buy new equipment, and protect the people and land of this beautiful mountain area.

My painting, "Wolf Wisdom" was juried into the Western Spirit art show this year. I'm especially pleased that I got in the show because they reported an overwhelming large number of entries! I'll also have a small painting in the miniature show - haven't decided which one yet but I'll post it when I decide.
Artists, community members, students and supporters of the Food Bank for Larimer County will enjoy the 13th annual Empty Bowls Fort Collins dinner and art auction on February 18 at the Hilton, Fort Collins. Tickets are $50.00 per person; sponsorships or purchasing a table for a family or group is also available. My framed canvas giclιe, Almost Home, will be auctioned.

This is a benefit auction for Legacy Land Trust. I have two pieces in the show (see below). Legacy Land Trust's mission is to protect working farms and ranches, wildlife habitat, and the beautiful open landscapes in our rapidly urbanizing northern Colorao area. Since 1993, LLT's private, non-political organization has helped protect over 37,000 acres of ecologically sensitive lands in 104 projects in Larimer, Jackson and Weld counties. www.legacylandtrust.org
